In smaller communities, such as Massena, some doctors occasionally travel to several hospitals, to treat patients in rural settings. Through a special cooperation with the University of Vermont’s Cardiology department, Board Certified Cardiologist Aderonke Adeniyi, M.D., works exclusively at Massena Memorial Hospital.
“We’ve really made this a priority to make sure it is convenient for patients to have access to the cardiologist and all the testing. This is a big day for us. Dr Adeniyi is our cardiologist for our community,” MMH CEO Bob Woelleben said. “Opening Massena Cardiology Services brings a talented physician to the Seaway Valley. We are very fortunate to have someone of her caliber in our community.”
Local elected officials attended the grand opening festivities before receiving a tour of the new suite. The Cardiology Suite’s new home provides patients the convenience to visit Dr. Adeniyi or Physician Assistant Erika Thompson, RPA– C, while also scheduling and having EKGs, Holter Monitoring and Echocardiograms performed all in one central location. Stress Tests and Nuclear Stress Tests are conducted on the hospital’s main level.
Massena Mayor Timmy J. Currier praised the hospital’s latest endeavor. He pointed out the new Massena Cardiology Services is another step forward for the hospital.
“One of the great things about Massena Memorial Hospital is you are always improving. You are always making it better. This institution and staff are such a vital part of the community in terms of the healthcare services you provide,” Currier said.
MMH Foundation Executive Director Julia Rose expressed the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to working with Wolleben and Dr. Adeniyi’s team to acquire the latest technological advanced medical devices.
“We will continue to support the hospital and help bring initiative cutting-edge equipment to Massena, so our doctors can continue to provide excellent care. Everyday MMH is making a difference. We really think this is a great day for MMH,” Rose said.
