Brouillette Retires from Massena Memorial Hospital after 35 Years of Service

Massena Memorial Hospital recently recognized Mark Brouillette, Senior Director of Professional and Practice Management at Massena Memorial Hospital for his 35 years of service to the hospital, patients and co-workers. Brouillette has worked on the senior team, Administration, for 25 years of this tenure at MMH.
Dave MacLennan, MMH Board of Managers Vice Chairman presented Brouillette with an engraved clock as a small token of recognition for his undying dedication. The engrave words stated: ‘In grateful recognition for 35 Years of dedicated service and commitment to Massena Memorial Hospital. And with sincere appreciation for the many valuable contributions made towards the hospital’s success.’
“Mark has been an outstanding member of the Administrative team and coordinated a lot of projects at MMH. He will truly be missed as a valued member of the team,” said MacLennan.
Scott A. Wilson, Chairman, MMH Board of Managers Chairman said, “Mark has proven over the years of service to be a gifted hospital executive. His involvement in facilities and in-depth knowledge of NYS Department of Health building regulations is remarkable. He has been an invaluable resource not only overseeing the new construction and remodeling of office buildings and the hospital’s main campus building, but ensuring safety is priority number one. The hospital will be hard pressed to fill the knowledge gap Mark will leave behind as he begins his well deserve retirement. The Board of Managers wishes him and his family all our best as he begins the next chapter of his life.”
Brouillette started his career at MMH as the Director of Environmental Services in 1983 and in three years, his duties expanded with taking on the management of Maintenance and Safety. He continued to take on additional management duties throughout his MMH career as an Assistant Administrator Support Services, Senior Director Ancillary Services and then Practice Management.
Mark oversaw the renovations and construction of many projects at MMH to include three new front entrances, two Emergency Rooms, two Surgical Suites, a new Intensive Care Unit, new and expanded Maternity. Additionally, as MMH expanded with numerous clinics he was in charge of the building of Bushnell and Casey Medical Office Buildings, Louisville and Brasher Family Health Centers, Massena Dialysis, and the new Medical Office Building across from the hospital.
As the hospital Safety Officer he worked with many staff members and director to ensure compliance with all New York State Department of Health Regulations along with the Joint Commission requirements.
“I have really enjoyed the continual challenges and stimulation that my job at MMH afforded me. I will miss the annual National Hospital Week’s celebrations, which gave me an opportunity to share with the employees how great they are and how hard they work. There were so many milestones from ribbon cuttings of new buildings and added services,” Brouillette said.
He noted he started his career at MMH as the youngest manager at age 20. During his tenure he worked with ten Chief Executive Officers, nine Chief Financial Officers and seven Chief Nurse Executives. “I can truly say, I am very proud to have worked with the best Ancillary and Facility Directors in the North Country to include the Lab, Medical Imaging, Pharmacy, Nutrition Services, Physical and Respiratory Therapy, Environmental, Maintenance and Housekeeping,” he added.
Tina Corcoran, Senior Director Public Relations/Planning/Physician Recruitment noted, “Mark was a very dedicated member of our senior team and will be greatly missed. He was very instrumental in the hospital’s many successful Joint Commission Surveys of Environment of Care, construction projects and development of our clinics. He has always been very respectful and I have enjoyed working with him over the years. We wish him the best in his retirement.”
In retirement he plans to spend more time on the water, on the road traveling and maybe more time in the woods.
