MMH NORTH COUNTRY VETERANS CLINIC SUPPORTS WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT
Massena Memorial Hospital North Country Veterans’ Clinic is pleased to announce a project to assist Shawn Hatch’s efforts with the Wounded Warrior Project. The staff at the Veterans Clinic has a slogan, “Local people helping local veterans.” When they heard of the terrific project that Shawn Hatch is doing by roller- blading across country to earn money for the National Wounded Warrior Project, they wanted to reach out and offer a helping hand and support locally.
Massena Memorial Hospital and the Veterans Clinic have designed patriotic t-shirts with the proceeds to be donated toward Shawn’s efforts. T-shirts are for sale to help for only $15 each or 2 for $25. Available at the North Country Veterans' Clinic, Public Relations, Jackie & Phil’s Gift Shop and all Veteran Clubs in Massena (American Legion, Am-Vets, VFW and the Massena Marine Corps.)
“The wounded Warrior Program is aimed to honor and empower our injured service men and women, the hospital and veterans’ clinic thought this is a small way we could assist and recognize Shawn’s efforts,” said Tina Corcoran, Senior Director of Public Relations/Planning.
“These shirts are a perfect way to show your patriotic spirit and support a worthwhile cause. At the Veterans’ Clinic we believe we are local people serving local veterans, we have to support this great cause,” said Kathleen Lauzon, Nurse Practitioner, North Country Veterans’ Clinic Director.
Each year since the North Country Veterans Clinic opened in 1993, the facility has serviced an increasing number of patients. The clinic sees approximately 32 patients a day. The North Country Veterans Clinic has over 3,500 registered veterans for the clinic for both medical and mental health services and did over 8,459 visits last year.
“We have a good working relationship with Syracuse VA and are happy to offer quality healthcare to our veterans,” said Mark Brouillette, Senior Director of Ancillary Services. “We are very committed to the outreach program as demonstrated by our recent expanded facility and staff.”
The clinic was established to improve access to medical services for those veterans living in the North Country. The North Country Veterans Clinic is staffed by MMH and funded by the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Syracuse. The North Country Veterans Clinic offers many services to both the men and women veterans in the North Country. The VA Healthcare Network continues a Community Based Outpatient Clinic in St. Lawrence County.
