The Massena Memorial Hospital Walk-In Clinic is a valuable resource for the Massena area communities and the hospital itself, because it is open every day and no appointment is necessary. The clinic's Director, Alicia Sienkiewycz, NP, Nurse Practitioner, and her staff treat non-life threatening injuries and illnesses to all patients over the age of one.
"The Walk-In Clinic is designed for the treatment of patients one year of age and older,
who are experiencing symptoms that do not require emergency care," said Sienkiewycz. "These procedures may include a cough or cold, an urinary tract infection, sprains or strains, ear-aches, sore throats, rashes, minor cuts and abrasions to mention a few".
Sienkiewycz and her staff would also like to let patients know that the walk-in clinic doesn't act as a patient's primary care provider and doesn't provide emergency medical treatment. Last year the clinic treated over 8,300 patients, an average of 675 to 800 patients monthly.
“We are fortunate to have several competent, caring and knowledgeable providers lead by Director Alicia Sienkiewycz, NP, Cassandra Debien, Physician Assistant and Dr. Ammar Kafa, Family Medicine physician, to meet the healthcare needs of our Walk-In Clinic patients,” said Mark Brouillette, Senior Director Practice Management and Ancillary Services. “All of these providers are essential in providing great, local healthcare in the North Country.”
At the Walk-In Clinic, treatments and evaluations for common illnesses such as flu or cold symptoms, seasonal allergies, tick bites, ear infections, rashes, sinus infections, sore throats and viruses. Some minor injuries treated may include: playground/sports injuries, contusions, minor burns or sprains.
The Walk-In Clinic is open seven days a week from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm. Patients must register by 5:30 in order to be seen that day. The clinic is closed on major holidays and the Emergency Department is open every day. The clinic accepts and/or bills all insurances; co-pays are appreciated and expected at the time of service.
