MMH Physical Therapy Team Spend Their Days to Improve Others
October is National Physical Therapy Month and Massena Memorial Hospital has an amazing staff in their Physical Therapy Departments, both on campus and Outreach Center on Andrews Street.
Led by Physical Therapist Eileen Fregoe, she says, “Our Rehabilitation Therapists spend their days helping to improve other peoples' lives....they are made of patience, understanding, humor and a thorough knowledge of the muscles of the human body."
MMH’s PT department is staffed with some amazing people including: Physical Therapists Matt Hayes, PT, Brittany DeLisle, PT, Ruth Dowdy, PT, Christy Cecot, PT, and Eileen Fregoe, PT; Physical Therapy Assistants Kerrie French, PTA, Megan Phelix, PTA, Patrick Sullivan, PTA, Dan Peacock, PTA, and Lisa Bresett, PTA; along with Occupational Therapist Monique Torbey, OT, and Speech Language Pathologist Mona Chapman, SLP.
Worried about falling or recently had a fall? The MMH PT staff can conduct a brief check ("screening") of your fall risk. If the screening shows that you are at risk, the therapist will perform a thorough evaluation, including but not limited to: a review of your medical history and medications, vision test, home safety assessment, heart rate, and feet and foot wear assessment. But they go beyond that and will assess your leg strength, how quickly and steadily you can walk, and assess your balance. Based on the evaluation results, our staff can design an exercise and training program tailored to you to improve your balance and strength.
It is not just falls that they cover... they help to improve all areas of your physical needs for all ages. "From musculoskeletal issues, to joint pain, and stroke.
Rehab therapists are made of patience, understanding, humor, and a thorough knowledge of the muscles of the human body. They spend their days helping improve other people's lives. “I would like to congratulate all rehab therapists for their outstanding commitment and dedication,” said Eileen Fregoe, PT, Rehab Services Director.
“Every day, they provide help and hope to all ages and all manner of injury. From musculoskeletal issues, to joint pain, and stroke, they are the cheerleaders for recovery. This month, we're cheering them on with our gratitude for their compassionate care in changing lives... for good,” Fregoe added.
