Living with Alzheimer's for Caregivers
When someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, friend and family have many questions. Massena Memorial Hospital and the Alzheimer’s Association of Central New York will offer a free community program/training for Alzheimer’s Caregivers. This three-part series is designed to provide caregivers with the knowledge, tool and strategies needed to cope with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s or related dementia.
The Alzheimer’s Association of Central New York is offering a free program for the community at Massena Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, October 29 from 1-5 p.m. Registration is required; please call 621-4025, extension 125.
The program is in three parts and will address:
• Symptoms associated with mid-stage Alzheimer’s
• Communication issues
• Providing personal care
• Behavior changes
• Medication management
• Home safety, driving and wandering
• Care options including day programs, in-home care and other living options as well as caregiver needs.
