NURSE-MIDWIFE DELIVERS WITH CARE AT MMH
Heather Hogan, Certified Nurse Midwife, joins Massena OB/GYN Group and the delivery team at Tender Touches Birthing Center.
Massena Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce Heather Hogan, Certified Nurse Midwife, has recently joined the hospital’s health care team and the Massena OB/GYN Group of Tae-Sik Choi, M.D., and Kaye A. Douglas, M.D.
Ms. Hogan has over five years of experience as a Registered Nurse, and then decided she wanted to 
continue specializing in women’s healthcare and become a Certified Nurse Midwife. She has worked at the Women’s Birth and Wellness Center, Chapel Hill, North Carolina in the birthing center, which saw over 3,000 births a year. In addition, she worked as an RN at the Birthing Suites, Women's Hospital of Greensboro.
She specializes in the following areas of women’s health care: prenatal, gynecological, women’s care, birth control, perimenopausal health, and teen gynecological care. The Nurse Midwife encourages women to follow a schedule of preventative care and taking care of themselves with an annual exam.
“I love working with my patients. I have always loved and had a fascination with women’s health and childbirth,” said Hogan. “When assisting a mother during childbirth, it seems the second the baby is born, time just stops. And after a brief pause, you hear the baby cry. It is tremendously rewarding.”
“I develop the care with each woman. I work with each patient as an individual to see what is best for them,” she added. “I think the Tender Touches Birthing Center at Massena Memorial Hospital is the nicest center I have ever seen. It offers the patient beautiful comforting surroundings with all the necessary medical equipment right there.”
Hogan earned a Master of Science in Nursing/Midwifery from the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing. She did her clinical rotations at The Women’s Birth and Wellness Center, Chapel Hill, NC and The Women's Hospital of Greensboro, Greensboro, NC. She earned a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from University of North Carolina at Greensboro School of Nursing. She also has earned diploma as Massage Therapist from the Natural Touch School of Massage Therapy, Greensboro, NC.
