Massena Memorial Hospital Emergency Services has 24-Hour coverage with specially trained emergency Physicians and Nurses, along with specialists on back-up call. State-of-the-art medical emergency equipment. All patients who present to the department are offered services regardless of their ability to pay.

A triage registered nurse who is trained to assess the severity of the patient’s condition based on the patient’s major complaint and a brief medical screening exam first sees patients to the Emergency Department. All patients are seen in order of the acuity of their needs.

When necessary, patients needing specialty services available at a tertiary center, a patient is stabilized and transported - typically to Syracuse or Burlington- by either ground or air transport.
